A Position of Favor and Protection

Feb 6, 2012   //   by mtull   //   Pastor's Blog  //  No Comments

God has been increasingly revealing Himself to man over generations, and He desires an intimate relationship with His church. The church is the focus of God’s work in the earth, and nothing is more important to Him than those He has purchased with His own blood. For this reason the church enjoys a position of favor and protection.

The Bible provides the foundation of reason and understanding for Christians. By the infilling of the Holy Spirit, we have the opportunity to occupy a position of understanding, not only God’s nature and essence but His ways and expectations as well.

Our response to God’s call to is to become a member of the church, a church that is committed to God through a relationship of love and faithfulness to Him. This new-birth experience begins a relationship between God and the believer that will endure any tests and trials that may come our way. Through the “new birth”, God lives within our heart and we become a member of the church—not a denomination or a local church, but the body of Jesus Christ.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17).

As a part of this body, we have security against the enemy, power over evil, and divine illumination of the Scriptures. But the greatest benefit of being a member of the church is eternal life with Him. Jesus said,

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:27-28).
